I offer a calm, safe environment which allows clients to talk about their thoughts and emotions. My approach is based on building a trusting relationship, which enables both support and challenge.
I believe that each individual is different so that a way of working needs to be agreed with each client. This not only includes the objectives of the work but also the methods used. I have experience of working in different ways. I can offer an emotion focused approach as well as working with difficult thoughts or a broader narrative based approach. I believe that identifying my clients’ strengths is important as well as the search for personal meanings.
I completed my training as a Counsellor in 2007 at Bristol University. My approach has developed through working in a number of different voluntary and public sector agencies over a number of years before focusing totally on private practice five years ago. I hold a Master’s Degree in Counselling as well as post-graduate degrees in psychology and education. I continue to develop my knowledge of both Emotion Focused Therapy as well as ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). I am an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
